Top 6 Parksville and Qualicum Beach Restaurants to Visit

June 14, 2022 Community

Not only are Parksville and Qualicum Beach home to some of the best beaches on Vancouver Island, but they also have a humble culinary scene that attracts visitors from all over British Columbia. Parksville and Qualicum Beach are both easily accessible by road, ferry, or air, making them popular destinations to both visit and call home. The stretch of coastline offers tidal flats and pools, wildlife, campgrounds, and warm hospitality.

Many Parksville and Qualicum Beach restaurants integrate locally sourced foods from the Salish Sea and the Cowichan and Comox valleys into their dishes. Whether you’re grabbing take-out or you’re dining out, you’ll be sure to experience fresh ingredients and unique creations at many restaurants in the area.

Here are the best six Parksville and Qualicum Beach restaurants we think you should visit this summer.

6. Qualicum Beach Cafe

Qualicum Beach Cafe is a family-run, locally sourced restaurant located right on Qualicum Beach. The menu showcases West Coast dishes with fresh seafood, fresh ingredients, and a little bit of an Italian influence.

Qualicum Beach Cafe is a great option if you want delicious food that features local ingredients with a beautiful view. It also offers dishes for pescatarians, vegetarians, vegans, and has gluten-free options. We recommend trying the Kahuna Pizza, the Mushroom Gnocchi, and the Sockeye Salmon.

5. Treetop Tapas & Grill

Treetop Tapas & Grill is located at Tigh-Na-Mara, a beautiful spa close to Rathtrevor Provincial Park. After spending some time at the grotto spa, you can continue your relaxation, with your robe and sandals on, at Treetop Tapas & Grill.

You can enjoy 17 tapas dishes, each one made from scratch and offering a wide variety of tastes. Our favourite dishes are the Salmon Sockeye, Falafel Tapas, and the Chocolate.

4. Kalvas Restaurant

If you’re in the mood for a high-quality dining experience in a log house, Kalvas is the restaurant for you. Kalvas offers traditional European cuisine featuring ingredients collected from around the world.

Kalvas always offers incredible service with keen attention to detail. Their wooden decor and beautiful circular dining room provide you with a great experience, no matter the occasion. Kalvas opens for dinner service Tuesday-Friday, making it a great restaurant to celebrate with loved ones.

We can’t get enough of the Filet Mignon, Panko Crusted Halibut, and the Prime Rib on Fridays.

3. De L’Île Restaurant

De L’Île Restaurant is a Qualicum Beach bakery and restaurant that deserves a visit every time you’re in the area. The restaurant food focuses on ingredients that are farmed and foraged from around Vancouver Island.

The bakery is open from Wednesday to Saturday, and offers delicious bread, pastries, and two lunch offerings. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday, and offers both an A La Carte menu and a Multi Course menu.

We can’t get enough of the bakery’s sourdough bread and Coffee Kombucha Caramel Knot. If you’re dining at the restaurant (which we definitely recommend!), try their Spot Prawn Chorizo and Halibut Fillet.

2. Chameleons

Chameleons is a hidden Parksville gem just a short walk from Parksville Community Park. This upscale restaurant is easy to miss, hence the name, but once you find it you’ll be blown away by the exquisite dishes and excellent service.

We recommend experiencing the Chicken Neptune, Seafood Crepe, and the Coconut Curry Bowl. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or milestone in Parksville, Chameleons is the place to go.

1.  Salt Pizzeria

Salt Pizzeria comes in strong as our #1 pick for Parksville Restaurants to visit. Salt Pizzeria boasts Italian cuisine with their thin-crust, artisan pizza. Their pizzas are made using aged sourdough and fresh ingredients only.

This pizzeria has a laid-back atmosphere, which is perfect for families. Great tip: order ahead for pick-up, and bring your pizza to Parksville Beaches, Rathtrevor Beach, or Wall Beach!

Though everything on the menu is delicious, we think you should try the Boscaiola, the West Coast, and the Funghi pizzas.

The bottom line

The Parksville and Qualicum Beach culinary scene offers something for everyone in the family. Parksville and Qualicum Beach are the perfect place to put down roots if your family wants to be surrounded by nature without having to compromise on a vibrant culinary scene. Next time you’re on Vancouver Island, we hope you try out one of these six restaurants!
